Geneva College - Parents FYI Newsletter - April 15, 2020

Welcome!
The purpose of Parents FYI is to combine important information from Geneva College to parents of Geneva students into one email communication. We hope it is valuable, particularly at this time when we are forced to provide online education and are communicating via electronic technology. It will be sent to you every Wednesday through the rest of the Spring 2020 semester. If you have feedback or questions regarding Parents FYI, please contact editor@volontariatoprotezionecivile.net.

Need 2 Know!

May@Geneva Will Be Totally Online

Because of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis and the uncertainty surrounding whether Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolfe will permit educational institutions to reopen in May, summer classes that were scheduled to meet on campus will be moved online. Students can anticipate that the class schedule will remain as published unless their professors contact them to discuss a different schedule. Questions about summer courses can be directed to the professors of individual classes or to CrossRoads.

Fall Registration

All returning students may register for next year on myGeneva!
If not already done, please ask students to “meet” with their faculty advisors via Teams, email or phone, to review the fall schedule, get the hold lifted, and be cleared to register. Any other holds will also need to be taken care of before registering for classes.

Reminder: Virtual Chapels

Geneva College continues to offer simple-format chapel sessions which air at 10:10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on Facebook Live (@genevacollege). We continue to praise the Lord Jesus Christ together and remember His faithfulness and goodness to us and our community. Please join us.

Encouragement and Connection
From Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Student Development Bridgette Hinzman

Geneva is not the same without you! I’ve been encouraged as I’ve gotten to connect to some commuter students, by phone, to see how their transition has been. Yes, there are struggles, but overall, the students I have spoken to have been transitioning well and seeking out the help that Student Development is offering, which has been so encouraging to me! It is a testament to our students that they are committed to their education in these uncertain times.

Continue to endure and please remember, I am only a phone call away! I want to leave you with Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthy things and Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Dealing with Anxiety During these Uncertain Times
By Anthony Turner, PhD, Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing

During these times of uncertainty, it is easy for fear and anxiety to creep in about many things. Rest assured, we can find comfort and peace in our Lord. His Word says in Philippians 4:6-7, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. In the moments when we feel weak and worried inside, may we find solace in lifting our voice to God who promises to provide peace in the day of adversity. For God is our strong tower in the day of trouble. (Proverbs 18:10)
